Fractions and Some Cool Distractions brings to mathematics instruction the high commercial quality that students and staff expect from television. Three videotapes, each approximately one hour in length, contain 14 sections on concepts and skills for fractions. Tape 1 contains an introduction to fractions and sections on multiplication, renaming, reducing, and comparing. Addition with equal denominators, addition with unequal denominators, subtraction, and division are covered on tape 2. Tape 3 deals with mixed numbers, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and lowest common denominator.
Each tape contains animated segments, helpful live instruction about the lessons taught in the animated segments, explanation of how to apply the appropriate skill to problems, and practice problems. The tapes also direct learners to the appropriate problems in the workbook. The set comes with ten student workbooks and the three videotapes.
