Vacancy Announcement: Research Associate I

Full-Time Position

Based in Philadelphia, RBS is a non-profit educational R&D firm serving educators in the mid-Atlantic region and throughout the country. The Evaluation Services unit conducts large and small-scale evaluations, including survey design and development, document review and analysis, individual and group interviewing, focus groups, on-site observations, and student achievement (e.g., standardized and portfolio) analysis. The unit provides prompt and clear feedback to clients in a variety of formats, such as written reports, oral presentations, and debriefing sessions with stakeholders. All services are tailored to the needs of the client and provided in partnership with the client to assure the evaluation results are relevant and useful.

The Research Associate I position requires prior experience in both quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods. The position reports to the Director of Research and Evaluation.

Responsibilities

  1. Design, develop, and implement evaluation plans.
  2. Conduct fieldwork, including observations of K-16 settings, informal education programs, and ongoing professional development sessions.
  3. Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses.
  4. Create, maintain, and revise databases in Excel, Access, and SPSS.
  5. Write evaluation reports.
  6. Develop evaluation proposals.
  7. Design and maintain website data collection tools and databases.
  8. Promote and maintain productive relationships with other RBS staff and clients.

Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in evaluation, educational psychology, or related social science field with a specialty in statistics for social sciences, or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience evaluating educational programs in K-12 settings.
  3. Experience managing evaluation projects and budgets.
  4. Expertise and experience using Excel, Access, and SPSS.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  6. Experience writing successful proposals for grants or contracts.
  7. Ability to work on a team as well as independently.

Starting Salary Range

The anticipated starting salary is approximately $45,000 depending on qualifications and experience; excellent benefits provided.
