Center for School Improvement Studies

RBS has been assisting education agencies with improvement initiatives since 1966. This technical assistance has included providing services and products in a collaborative environment with clients that could help to improve student achievement through strategic planning, implementation assistance, coordinating stakeholders and resources, professional development, and assessment of progress and results. The challenges addressed have included the following priorities:

Aligning standards, curriculum, instruction, and assessment with proven instructional practices
Recruiting, training, and retaining high quality teachers
Building a collaborative supportive environment including schools, districts, family, business, and community groups and agencies
Assisting practitioners to implement and assess educational practices
Aligning governance with effective practice
Disseminating useful information resources on needs, requirements, and effective practices to education stakeholders
Promoting the use of policies and practices that have evidence of effectiveness
Helping states, districts, and schools to develop internal capacity and find external sources of support

RBS endeavors to meet the highest professional standards in providing technical assistance, such as those advocated by the National Staff Development Council, the U. S. Department of Education, the National Staff Development and Training Association, and the American Society for Training and Development.
