SAT Video Courses - Verbal Set

These interactive video-workbook courses provide all the information and materials you need to offer SAT preparation -- eliminating the need for lesson planning and instructor training. The two basic courses, verbal and math, cover all SAT content areas:

• Verbal: Analogies, Sentence Completion, and Reading Comprehension
• Math: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and other math.

The advanced course focuses on more difficult SAT mathematics problems. It has five main sections: shortcuts; tricks, traps, and exceptions; complex problems in algebra and geometry; word problems; and advanced math.

Instruction is provided by expert presenters on videotape. Practice problems and homework are given in the student workbooks (and audiotape for the verbal course). Practice SAT exams are featured in the basic course workbooks. The video and workbooks also contain orientation information and test-taking tips.

The video courses are the result of careful analysis of thousands of actual SAT questions. The Math Video Course covers all 29 district problem types, focusing on those that occur more frequently. The Advanced Math Video Course focuses on the medium- difficult to difficult problems and provides intensive instruction to maximize student scores. The Verbal Video Course is based on a computer-generated list of vocabulary words actually used on the SAT and careful analysis of the three verbal problem types. The most frequently occurring verbal problems were selected, and vocabulary-building exercises, illustrations, practice problems were designed using these words.

The Teacher's Guide provides lesson plans for covering the Verbal Video Course in 9 one-hour sessions and the Math Video Course in 11 one-hour sessions.
