ThinkAbility

Marco Meirovitz, Paul Jacobs and Norma Levine

ThinkAbility, a new thinking skills program developed by Marco Meirovitz, uses games to teach skills that help students in every subject area and in their everyday lives:

  • DeduceAbility -- collect relevant facts, organize them, and reach valid conclusions.
  • InduceAbility -- discover what is similar and different among many events or examples and develop underlying rules for action.
  • PlanAbility -- anticipate events and efficiently organize and set goals necessary to accomplish tasks.
  • CreateAbility -- develop new and different ideas and find new solutions for problems.
  • RecallAbility -- remember what has been learned and retrieve it when needed.
  • MessageAbility -- send and receive messages effectively and interact with others.
  • WordAbility -- use word power for spelling, reading, writing, and oral communication.
  • SeeAbility -- visualize objects and actions and their relationships.
  • ApplyAbility -- connect all the ThinkAbility skills together in new applications.

Designed for students at the 4th to 9th grade level, ThinkAbility can easily be adapted for use by older secondary students. It develops and strengthens:

  • vocabulary, communication, memory, and visualization skills; and
  • abilities in deduction, induction, strategy, and creativity.

The ThinkAbility program includes:

  • attractive curriculum materials in a student workbook;
  • detailed preparation materials in a Teacher's Manual;
  • activities that can be used by parents and their children to involve the whole family in the school program; and
  • 60 interesting learning games, each of which engages students for 20 to 60 minutes.

A complete ThinkAbility program set includes one Teacher's Manual, ten Student Workbooks, and five Game Kits.
