Leverage the fun of building with K'NEX into the perfect tool for learning about simple machines. With the Simple Machines Deluxe Set, students can build 60 fully-functioning machine models that highlight mechanical principles and relate them to the real world. Supporting curriculum materials are designed for independent study in learning centers, small group activity or teacher-directed instruction. As a culminating activity, the entire class works together to build a 4-foot tall motorized complex machine contraption - the Big Ball Factory.
Activity Cards include model building instruction and discovery-based, problem solving challenges that investigate the machines' operation, understand their form and function, compare and contrast the work performed, and much more. Reference Cards explain the basic science concepts involved in machine function and the formulas for calculating mechanical advantage. Educator Guides correlate to the Activity Cards and provide lesson objectives, background information, required materials and solutions to student challenges.
