Incorporate the Transportation Set easily into universal elementary units covering transportation as it relates to communities, technological advances, societal differences, and travel to the outer limits. It is a tool with which teachers can explore these themes through hands-on, open-ended, cooperative methods. Activity Cards provide building instructions for 44 models and background information about the vehicle's origin, purpose and function. This information provides a springboard for students to continue their study of the vehicles through extension challenges provided in the Educator's Idea and Challenge Guide. The guide encourages students to compare and contrast vehicles, alter them to meet certain specifications, include safety features and to create innovative vehicles that meet future travel needs.
