The resources below can assist parents in arming their children with the skills needed to succeed in school.

Education Place/Parent's Place

This site includes activities and resources for parents and “homeschoolers” who want to help their children excel in school.

Families and Advocates Partnership for Education (FAPE)

FAPE provides extensive information on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for parents and teachers.

The Family Center on Technology and Disability (FCTD)

FCTD offers “assistive” technology designed to help families of children and youth with disabilities.

Friends of Special Schools

This Web site is designed to help parents of special needs children by providing scientific and educational resources.

Harvard Family Research Project (HFRP)

HFRP examines topics related to family involvement in education.

Institute for Responsive Education (IRE)

IRE is a research, policy, and advocacy organization that encourages and supports school, family, and community partnership to enable high quality educational opportunities for all children.

National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL)

NCFL’straining programs provide strategies for improving language and literacy skills of children and their parents.

National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education (NCPIE)

NCPIE provides resources and legislative information that helps promote the involvement of parents and families in their children’s education.

National Parent Teacher Association (National PTA)

The National PTA offers access to thousands of parents and teachers and provides the resources needed for parents to stay involved in their child’s education.

No Child Left Behind (NCLB)

This U.S. Department of Education Web site gives parents updated information about NCLB.

Parents Action for Children

Parents Action for Children provides ideas and strategies to help parents build a strong foundation for their child’s education.

Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights (PACER)

The PACER Center provides resources for parents of children and youth with disabilities to communicate with other parents facing similar challenges.

Parent Education Resources

Parent Education Resources offers a variety of workshops, seminars, and training sessions for parents of children in kindergarten.

Parent Institute

The mission of The Parent Institute is to encourage parent involvement in the education of their children. The Parent Institute produces a variety of materials including newsletters, booklets, brochures, and videos.

Parents as Teachers National Center, Inc. (PAT)

PAT is an international early childhood parent education and family support program designed to enhance child development and school achievement through parent education accessible to all families.

Parents for Public Schools (PPS)

PPS is a national organization of community-based chapters that seeks out the constructive involvement of parents in the governance of schools.

PTO Today

PTO Today is a resource for parent group leaders with a focus on providing the programs and services that can “help parents help their schools.”

The Schwab Foundation

The Schwab Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides free information, resources, and publications to support parents of children with learning disabilities.

Technical Assistance Alliance for Parent Centers

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, this project develops, assists, and coordinates Parent Training and Information Projects and Community Parent Resource Centers under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
