This workshop will introduce you to the theoretical basis of propensity score matching (PSM) and its applications. You will learn how to:
- import and export data files between Excel and R,
- assess the covariate balance before and after the matching,
- fit a propensity score model to the data,
- estimate the program effect after the matching, and assess potential hidden bias.
In order to get the most out of this one-day workshop, you are encouraged to bring a laptop computer (Mac or Windows) so that you will be able to put to use immediately the R scripts that will be demonstrated during the workshop. If you are attending the workshop with a friend, you may share a laptop too. Please note that having access to a laptop is not a requirement for attending the workshop. You will be provided with all of the R scripts and data files needed to replicate the analysis after the workshop.
If you do not already have R on your computer, you may download the software and related packages following the instructions provided. If you do want to run the R script yourself during the workshop, please have the package installed prior to the start of workshop because Internet access will not be available at the workshop site. If you have trouble loading or starting the software, please email: rui@rbs.org. Data files and scripts will be posted on this page as they become available.
