The RBS Research and Evaluation Center currently conducts large, medium, and small-scale research and evaluation projects, including survey design, development and validation; document review and analysis; individual and group interviews; focus groups; on-site observations and studies of implementation fidelity; student achievement (e.g., standardized and portfolio) analysis; and randomized control trial studies.
The evaluation portfolio focuses on projects that are designed to determine the effectiveness of specific education improvement programs or materials, while the research portfolio is comprised of studies related to broader improvement approaches and issues of broader relevance to the field. RBS provides prompt and clear feedback to clients about its research and evaluation findings in a variety of formats, such as written reports, oral presentations, and debriefing sessions with stakeholders. All services are tailored to the needs of the client to assure the relevance and usefulness of the results through plans developed in close consultation with clients.
At present, the Research and Evaluation Center staff includes nine full-time professional employees and several part-time staff working on over 16 funded projects. There is presently a director of Research and Evaluation, to whom this position reports. RBS is seeking a senior professional for this newly created Assistant Director for Research position to market research-related services and manage the portfolio of funded research-focused projects.
Primary Accountabilities
- Manage, develop, and provide leadership for research project staff
- Assume a leadership role in securing funding for new research-related business through networking, proposal preparation, and other means
- Design, manage, and conduct quantitative and qualitative research studies
- Manage multiple project budgets
- Write and edit project reports that are of high quality and that meet standards of research-based evidence
- Deliver high-quality services that are responsive to client needs
Qualifications
- Doctorate or equivalent in educational research, psychology, sociology, or related field
- At least four years of experience in a supervisory position in the field of education research or evaluation
- Experience in writing and winning competitive proposals
- Demonstrated writing and editing skills
- Ability to design, manage, and conduct complex quantitative and qualitative studies
- Ability to direct and manage multiple projects and budgets
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
In addition, at this position level, the successful candidate will bring to RBS established client networks and potential funding opportunities.
Starting Salary Range
The anticipated starting salary is approximately $70,000 depending on professional experience and academic background; excellent benefits are provided.
