Who We Are

The RBS staff includes credentialed education professionals who are well experienced in a wide variety of subject area disciplines, school improvement processes, and learning environments. The Board of Directors is likewise qualified both in education and organization governance.
What We Do
RBS' mission is to help schools and other education organizations improve student learning, teacher content and pedagogical knowledge, and operational effectiveness. RBS carries out this mission by developing and delivering high quality, useful, and evidence-based services and products.
RBS has been previously funded by the U.S. Department of Education to operate the Mid-Atlantic Regional Eisenhower Consortium for Mathematics and Science Education, and to be a partner in the Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Assistance Center. RBS also previously served as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Educational Laboratory.
The organization has mounted efforts of national scope and significance, including developing the Urban Learner Framework, translating and disseminating research from TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study), and introducing the Lesson Study approach to schools across the U.S.
RBS partners with state departments of education, schools, professional development providers, universities, and others to encourage deeper understanding of important education-related issues such as closing the achievement gap and standards-based instruction. RBS also has a publishing division that develops and disseminates hundreds of professional educational products in print and electronic media.
